In the early 1970's, Quinn Kirtpatrick gets up one morning to discover that his wife and 15 year old son are gone. 21 years pass and his family is never found. Now in the 1990's, Quinn is an older man, bothered by a reoccurring dream in which his son is telling him, they're alive. He often clears his mind by metal detecting on the beach and one day, he unearths a strange artifact from out of this world. When activated, it makes time stand still and an alien space ship silently rises from the ocean, landing an inch away from his feet.
