Mobility and wanderlust, fueled by economic and social factors, drove some to seek a more user-friendly America in the early to mid 1990's. Nick becomes the final holdover from a group of six that headed to Colorado's ski country with varying hopes and expectations. His journey takes him to Denver, where he finds a beautiful but troubled girlfriend, an unscrupulous attorney and a host of other characters that have him on the brink of success in the blossoming city. Things are not always what they seem and when he does the wrong thing for the right reason, tragedy strikes. The story is inspired and loosely based on the author's experience living in Colorado. The characters are composites of real people and many of the anecdotes are fictionalized versions of real events, serving as realistic fiction or an alternate history. Real settings (with some name changes) and personal work experience is the backdrop for an exploration of the seamier side of the insurance industry, animal rights and a philosophical view of modern culture amid the plight of workaday living.
