In one night, 98% of the Earth's population vanished. A week had passed but the lack of a reaction emphasized humanities near extinction. A radio announcer in the last known signal unambiguously called it the Great Disappearance. Anise Powers and her family did not mind it. Their life was more enjoyable with fewer people in it. It was a privilege to be alive but no one cared about privilege anymore. They wanted to be left alone. They had no desire to find out what happened to humanity. They believed a right answer was worthless if it was the wrong question. In a reluctant twist, a group of hermits with no discernible survival skills may be the only ones who can solve the riddle of the Great Disappearance.
