The First Thirty Seven Stories
Maxwell Jacobs
From Maxwell Jacobs Preface: 'There are many kinds of stories in this book. I hope you will find some that you like - In going where you have to go, and doing what you have to do, and seeing what you have to see. These stories are a great companion. Writing these over the past ten years, I had to put them on the grindstone and hammer them into shape. But I had something to write about which is better than having nothing to say. I hope they came out bright and shining, smooth and well-oiled for you to enjoy.'
