Wuthering Heights
Emily Bronte
Emily Bronte (1818-1848) was the middle Bronte sister. She was a novelist and poet best remembered for her novel Wutheiring Heights published in 1847. This classic nineteenth-century English novel is set in the wild moor country of Yorkshire. Mr. Lockwood and Ellen "Nelly" Dean. are the two narrators. Lockwood rents a house from Heathcliff who lives at Wuthering Heights. While staying with Heathcliff Lockwood had a dream in which Catherine Earnshaw's ghost wants to get into the house. Nelly takes over and tells the story of Heathcliff coming to Wuthering Heights 30 years earlier as an orphan.
