A graduate student in psychology never suspects falling in love would lead to an even steeper fall into despair. With a taste of depression previously known to him only in textbooks, Philip, heart-broken over a failed romance with a fellow graduate student, struggles to emerge from a deep abyss, and filled with disenchantment, considers walking away entirely from becoming a therapist. And so begins a long and capricious journey of self-discovery, redemption, and numerous false starts before finding his calling once again.
