In my twenty five years of working as a nurse I have evolved in my handling of crisis by watching those patients that truly thrive when being challenged. I have worked in telemetry, or in the critical care setting my whole career. In 2000, I started working in a challenging post intervention step down unit. Working within this patient group teaches you many things about not only the physiology of the human body, but the psychology of how you survive to live, to work, to stand another day. The techniques of survival are as varied as the individuals experiencing the event. I offer this book to nurses and patients in the hope that this will help to guide or at least acknowledge that there is path to the light at the end of our particular tunnel. I write about that which fascinates me, the coincidences of life that become a life changing event without anyone even noticing. A thousand lessons offered every day if we can only open our eyes to the fact that every day we live is our ultimate gift, the rest is up to us. These vignettes are a collection of events observed that changed my life. Finally finding that the more I look for positive outcomes in my life, the more often I find them. Perspectives, lessons learned, beauty found, all while working the night shift trying to make sure that we all go home alive. My second book is titled "Angels Beside's Us" and by now the shock of what the world can hurl at a person has worn off for me. My wonder now is how people find the strength to move on when there is so little left to work with. I hope you enjoy these journeys through time as much as did creating them, they are from my heart to yours.
