John Chapel is haunted by his troubled past and presses forward in life only because of the love for his two young children and his Galt, California peach orchard. When a stained glass window maker from Italy, an architectural student from Wisconsin, and door maker from Maine show up at the ranch he doesn't know why. When rocks from around the world start showing up he tries to make sense of everything that has been happening, with little success.
