Edvard Grieg is Norway's most revered composer. The Song of the Watchman is lyrical in style in contrast to the marcato-staccato style of The Sailors' Song which follows. Rhythms are not difficult but are independent, and articulations are well marked. Both pieces are quite short. This is quality music by a quality composer offering an excellent ensemble experience.
