Almost every ecosystem of the universe is badly affected by the tremendous use of the conventional petroleum derived plastics---what we call as "White Pollution." The reason is that these petroleum derived plastics have become indispensable commodity so as to improve the comfort and quality of life. Its multipurpose qualities of strength, lightless, stability along with easy availability have lead to its frequent use. However due to is non biodegradable nature, its accumulation in the environment has become a world-wide problem. Therefore the need of the hour is the replacement of conventional plastics by biodegradble plastics. Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs), are hydrophobic polyesters having comparable properties to conventional plastics like polypropylene and 100% biodegradable.
