From the first introductory verses of the Genesis creation account to God's gracious invitation to come drink freely of the water of life found in the last chapter of Revelation, scripture is filled with references to the person and presence of the Holy Spirit's authoring, interacting and bringing life to his creation. Just like every good mystery, much has been said and even more assumed about the Holy Spirit's miraculous role in our world and lives. And yet for one who is so vitally essential to life there remains rampant confusion clouding the Christian church's understanding of the Holy Spirit's role in conversion, in sanctification and why his very presence is fundamental to our opportunity to live the Christian life and our expectation and hope of life beyond the grave. Jesus came to seek and save the lost but exactly what is it that has been lost and who lost it?
