In the early 1900s, African Americans like Exie are free...but there are many who would seek to keep them in bondage, especially plantation owner Moor Jones. It's a world where being strong is your only hope of survival, but luckily, that's something Exie and her family are good at. Exie isn't afraid to speak her mind, but reckless behavior on a plantation owned by abusive racist comes with its risks. When Moor Jones refuses to pay Exie's husband Jake, and then even goes so far as to steal food from Exie's garden, she knows she has to step up and take action to protect herself and her children. Based on a true story, Jake's Lineage is a story of suffering and power, of hope and the true strength of family to overcome.
