Alcools
Guillaume Apollinaire
As visual artists like Picasso and Duchamp began to challenge the status quo of their fields, so did literary minds. Apollinaire, a master of many media, shows the creation of Modernism in Alcools. Guillaume Apollinaire (1880 - 1918) managed to leave a mark on the art world before his premature death at 38. Among his greatest accomplishments are his collections Alcools and Calligrammes. He is also known for naming the Surrealist movement.
