Krys Call
These poems record small-scale natural details in places in Santa Cruz County often frequented by pedestrians of many species. Two exceptions are "Elegiac Oaks" and "On Losing Insubductable You," which go outside of Santa Cruz County and are about relationships that exist both within and outside the boundaries of linear time. An alternate title of this book is Perseverations on Roundness, which is also what most of these poems are. Readers who have spent time in Special Education will recognize the term as applying to people who continually draw circles. The poems in this book continually see circles that they believe have already been drawn or are presently being drawn, arguably qualifying the poems as perseverators on roundness. It is hoped that if some of these circles described are ones you haven't noticed before, you will enjoy seeing them, and if they are all old friends, you will enjoy hearing about them from an appreciative source.
