Broken and shattered with the death of her brother after the Siege of Herridon, Mehlis d'Corydon is put into the charge of the minstrel Tabari. Her other brother has turned her out of their family's Hold, telling her to find herself and her place in the world. Not knowing Tabari is far more than a simple minstrel, she accompanies him and discovers more about herself and the world than she ever expected. She learns how sheltered her life was, and how harsh her upbringing, always trying to meet impossible expectations. It also introduces ideas of alternative marriage lifestyles. Book 1 in a 4 book series, The Chronicles of Mehlis follows Mehlis' journey to heal herself and find her place in the world of Herridon. Taking place immediately after the end of Herridon - Chronicles of Nahtan Book 7, this is a standalone story, so reading the first 7 books is not necessary. Characters and events from that story are mentioned and appear in this series, however, so a deeper understanding will be had if they've been read. This 4 book series also
