Sam Shepherd (better known as Floating Points) has traded the nightclubs for the ballet stage on Mere Mortals, a reinterpretation of the Greek myth of Pandora. The work reinterprets Pandora as a symbol of curiosity, change, and humanity's urge to explore the unknown. As Floating Points' first music written for a ballet, Mere Mortals tells the story of Pandora's Box through today's technological reality. The ballet examines timeless philosophical questions with artificial intelligence as its focal point, exploring both the opportunities and risks of humanity's search for new paths in unknown territory.
