Bobby Franklin's Insanity
The psych funk genre was headed by black bands playing R&B that did abrupt turns as they heard Hendrix or dropped acid themselves. It was like a shooting star: brilliant in its prime, but destined to fade. Bobby Franklin's Insanity includes some of the more danceable, R&B music he made after his tenure as a psych funk-er ended. This album, co-produced by the legendary Curtis Mayfield, is precious.
