The Afterparty Lykke Li
The Afterparty
Lykke Li
Swedish creative Lykke Li has officially announced her sixth studio album, "The Afterparty."
Arriving four years after the intimate, lo-fi immersion of EYEYE, the new record finds Li shifting from "love addiction" into what she describes as her "existential era." Written in Los Angeles and recorded in Stockholm with a 17-piece string orchestra, the album is a cinematic journey through the night that transforms feelings of hopelessness into a celebratory revenge.
"The Afterparty" is a confrontation with mortality, hedonism, and impermanence. Musically it moves away from the minimalism of her previous work toward a maximalist pop sound with pocalyptic bongos," hooky choruses, and cascading disco strings - perfectly exemplified by the lead single "Lucky Again," which samples Max Richter’s reimagining of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.
