Michel Legrand
Michel Legrand has won countless awards for his film music throughout his career. From the Oscar to the Golden Globe to the Grammy, he has received virtually every accolade the industry has to offer. Early in his career, in 1958, he produced an album for which he recruited over 30 of the best jazz musicians of the day. Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Bill Evans, Ben Webster, Phil Woods and virtually every other New York session musician agreed to record Legrand's unconventional arrangements of standards such as Django, Don't Get Around Much Anymore and Night in Tunisia. In three different groups, they recorded an unusual album with Legrand Jazz at the Columbia studios.
Chris Bellman and Bob Donnelly remastered the original analogue stereo tapes at Bernie Grundman's studios. The hybrid SACD is also HDCD encoded and comes with a high-quality 24-page booklet with liner notes by Nat Shapiro.
