A Long Way from Kansas Hot Chip

On Hot Chip's ninth album - A Long Way From Kansas – you can experience the band in their most original form. The title paraphrases The Wizard of Oz, and is a reference to Dorothy, her dog and the distance they have to travel to get home and rediscover a certain sense of normality.

The first single from the album is 'Random Violence', a majestic tribute to Keith McIvor Optimo, which also sets the mood for the album. The passionate socialist, Keith (aka JD Twitch) was a DJ, curator and one of the country's most forward-thinking promoters, a man who inspired the power of positivity in all the people he worked with and played for — an effect that resonates in what Al Doyle calls the song's "human connection".

A Long Way From Kansas follows up on Hot Chip's appearance in the second season of the Netflix series Beef earlier in 2026, where they played live together with none other than Oscar Isaac. The Grammy-nominated band also celebrated the 20th anniversary of their second album The Warning in May 2026.
