Barney Wilen
According to Barney Wilen, he was persuaded to become a musician by his mother's friend, the poet Blaise Cendrars. As a teenager, he founded a jazz club for young people in Nice, where he often performed. He moved to Paris in the mid-1950s and worked at the Club St Germain with American musicians such as Bud Powell, Benny Golson, Miles Davis and J.J. Johnson.
